I has got a new telephone! It is red and shiny and has one of those slide-out keyboards. It also (hopefully) will ring, and display the text when someone texts me! My old one hasn't done that for months, and then the charger started going. Question, for pocketmouse or anybody else better at iTunes than I am. It is time for the Spring Cleaning of the Hard Drive. I would like to delete the music files that I ripped in order to get them onto my iPod. In honor of pi(e) day, I am making a pie for dinner. It currently smells very good in the oven. It contains apples, an onion, a lot of bacon, two kinds of cheese, and some chives, in pie. The linguistics symposium went very well, and my paper on the phonetic organization of invented alphabets (ie, fun with Elvish) was well-attended. That and the paper abstract/proposal due the day before for Medieval Literary Theory meant I had about 2 hours of sleep in 3 days, and I kept almost nodding off in the panels ( Read more... )

This class is awful. The teacher is rather young, and lacks that dignified classroom presence that makes students trust she knows what she's talking about. Also the (free online) textbook is poorly written and confusing. Each chapter ends with exercises that are even more confusing, which are expected to be attempted before class, but none of them ( Read more... )
