I think it's easier to cry at movies and tv than it is at real life. We don't get a sweeping score by Michael Gore or Thomas Newman to accompany those moments that would require it, and we don't have a script to say just the right thing and we don't have an actor to give it that proper inflection, that hesitant breath, that moment where the words just won't come, and then they do, just on the right beat.
But as writers, we can make those moments for other people. Here's hoping you find some joy in the process, and that you and you both have a great Idol experience!
