Finding a place

I joined a church last year.

I'm 37 and it's the first time I ever regularly attended church. I didn't do it for me, I did it for my nephew.  He craved going to church. He asked about it all the time.

His preschool had been in a neighborhood church and when he moved on to regular school he just missed it so much.

I think it’s very sweet that you did this for your nephew, and I don’t think there is a wrong reason to go to church. Take what you need from it and leave the rest. Enjoy that he enjoys it.

Such an act of love. I'm glad you were able to put up boundaries as to what kind of church you needed. I'm told that these kind of churches do exist, but in this era, they are hard to find. I hope you will find peace.

i want to say that the feeling of belonging will come, but i don't know. it sounds like a good place, anyway, and you're doing a great thing for your nephew.

I can relate to this. I haven't found a church I can feel comfortable in, either, even though I know enough to "pass"... It's just that I don't buy it. At least your nephew has the sense of community he wanted. I hope you can find a way to feel connected, too.
