CONGRATULATIONS! Wow, what an exciting overwhelming amazing place to be put for this program.
Also: that's it, I'm DEFINITELY going to visit New Orleans next year. There've been two chances that haven't worked out for me recently, and I've got to make it happen sometime. :D
The dissenting opinion I've heard is that having a series of new teachers who stick around for only a year or two is not great for the education or sense of stability of the kids involved. Not an opposition to you accepting so much as to the program in general. As I google it to give you a link, I see that I got this from a Feministe post (here) which is now giving me a database error. I, personally, don't know much about it either way, but this viewpoint makes sense to me.
Congratulations on getting it! I'm glad that all your nerves over the interviews paid off ;) You rock.
This is definitely something I worry about, and that's going to factor into my weighing-of-things as I make my decision. TFA is apparently known as "Teach For Awhile" among a lot of education professionals, and it may well be a deserved reputation
