I cant believe its almost been a whole year since I left for New York last summer. Time is flying by. I cannot tell you how glad I am to be staying put here in Chicago this summer. Although I miss some of my camp friends I do not miss having only a big yellow school bus as a means to get away from camplife ( Read more... )

I know what you mean about feeling in a rut -- just thought I'd let you know you're not flying solo in feeling that way sometimes. My idea for getting out of my rut was to pack a bag and head out west Kerouac-style. haha, wouldn't that be an adventure!

Oh my god. I just read the last part of your entry where you said, "I just feel like I should be living this summer up," and it occurred to me that it's summer right now. Wow. It does NOT feel like summer to me. For one, it's been about 63 degrees and overcast every day. For another, I've been getting up early almost every day and doing things like taking wilderness first aid classes, doing errands, running, etc. Third, I'm starting my job in a week, which will take up almost every minute of the entire day from this Saturday until August 23rd, the day before I leave for Copenhagen. I can't believe it's actually vacation right now.

Apparently humans thrive on routine, but you're right - every once in a while it's good to mix it up. There's some fun things going on downtown from what I've heard, but it could be expensive.

I, for one, am excited for drunken bingo and the hedge family this Friday.
