I can't seem to remember what city I'm in

Just one person can make the difference between "pathetically eating dinner alone" and "convivial convention meal experience". Last night was rescued by Susan from Calgary, who has now eaten Ethiopian food and told us about motorcycling in Brazil.

I do not understand this "pathetically eating dinner alone" business. I like to read during dinner (D and I both read during dinner) so I am delighted to have a meal by myself - more time to read and decompress (being an introvert - I need time away from people).

An interestng point, especially given my subsequent post. I think the thing is that mealtimes are the time during a convention when I can have extended conversation with a few friends, perhaps also with someone convivial they have introduced into the mix. Not standing in the dealers' room blocking traffic, nor yelling back and forth in a bar or "party", but sitting down with some food in front of us like civilzed people. And if that's what one wants, then seeing the con clump up and run off without you is disheartening.
