I adore "The Night Circus." I loved that I'd never heard of the author before. How often does that happen in this field anymore? ;-)

I've asked for the audio book for my birthday, because I think it's a story well-suited to audio and I'd love to revisit the world that way. Although with no commute anymore, it gets tricky scheduling time for audiobooks....

You don't knit or do other hand crafts? That's a good excuse to listen to a book on CD. Or when you're cooking or washing dishes?

I find that usually, cooking and clean-up take only a few minutes at a time, so not enough time to start listening. Once in a while I make something that takes longer, so that might work.

I don't knit or crochet yet, but I'd like to learn both. And yes, that would be perfect for audiobook listening!

Didn't like Sacre Bleu? I'm sorry. I thought you might. Oh well.

I really enjoyed THE ROOK. It was on the long list for the MFA (Mythopoeic Fantasy Award) a few years ago but it didn't make the short list. (Which is not necessarily related to its value. You always have to factor in that people only have so much time to read and what you can get from the library in a speedy manner.)

I admired THE NIGHT CIRCUS (which did make the short list for the MFA). I didn't enjoy it as much as THE ROOK.

I'm a big Jennifer Crusie fan. I love her stuff. I think my favorite is BET ME, which I got as a recommendation from the Smart Bitches, Trashy Books web site. I think I've read all of her novels. My second favorite is her collaboration with some guy named Bob, AGNES AND THE GUN MAN. Who wouldn't love a character referred to as Cranky Agnes?

I read THE OTHER when it was new - I think I was in junior high then. I've never returned to it.
