Skunk bulbs

I just wanted to write something a little more upbeat for a diversion.

I went with my good friend of many years, Nancy (sister of f_d_anconia) and her daughter to pick up some tulip bulbs today. I thought a drive in the country and a few hours of earnest discussion might be good for Sierra

But song seems extremely appropriate at this moment!

The singer married Faye Dunaway, who starred in Jr. class play with my aunt, at the high school I later attended in Tallahassee. (It was the drama teacher's one claim to fame that she cherished for the rest of her life and told us about every day.) Dunaway's relatives are buried around some of mine up around the AL/FL state line, but they did not forgive her for appearing nude in Bonnie and Clyde. It was a local scandal.

It's one of those 6 degrees of Kevin Bacon, or separation, things. Funny.

I like getting these little mental tickles. Skunk bulbs to J. Geils to Faye Dunaway to aunt to relatives to Kevin Bacon (don't really know how he fits into this except there was some game on Internet about him and the few degrees of separation--oh yeah, and he "starred" in the Tremors "movie" with the "actress" formerly on my soap opera who originally gave me the idea that I could name my daughter after the Sierra mountains

And I also like

I'm so accustomed to the smell of skunks that I am disburbed when I don't smell them.

But I'm strange.

Maybe I should get some of the bulbs to keep at the back door...

There weren't many left. I apparently wasn't the only sucker walking in the door. I just hope the blooms smell better than the bulbs. Really.

Calling all skunks

The bulbs will probably have an unexpected side "benefit." It will probably drive the deer to flee, but act like catnip to skunk. Are you sure you want a couple of bulbs?
