I don't think it's fair to say that Gaius shouldn't have objected because it all worked out, cause it could have all backfired pretty easily. I just think he handled the situation really really badly. And also he's srsly irritating me this series.

I've decided Aithusa is a girl and will remain as such until it conflicts too jarringly with canon. Cause. Y'know.

YES ABOUT GAIUS. it felt SO out of place as well. as soon as he started shouting i was like WAIT WHAT.

i did wonder about the male dragon - clearly still only going to be two :

I think he totally failed to grasp the whole 'Merlin = dragonlord' thing, which is strange cause he was clearly friends with Balinor so he must understand what a huge deal the prospect of a new dragon is for Merlin.

I didn't even notice the dragon was male until I read other people mentioning this, because it was so obviously going to be a female in my head. I have no idea where they are going with that...

I feel the Gaius!fail is down to lazy writing (they needed a reason for Merlin not to tell Arthur about his magic last ep and I guess this one would have been less compelling if Gaius had gone along with it), but yeah. Plus, it seems like he's continuously regurgitating moments and types of reactions we've seen in previous series. Please make him interesting again, TPTB.

Me too! D: I just. It's making me really sad and I'm not quite sure why since it's not that big a deal.

Tbh, I wish they'd properly acknowledge that Gaius is not a saint and has fucked up tremendously.

So Kilgharrah actually called the baby dragon a "he"? Seriously? I thought the name Merlin gave it was a girl's name. :( I can't help but think of the baby dragon as a girl.

I heard male pronouns and so far every transcript of Kilgharrah's little speech has used male pronouns. But it made so little sense to me that I seriously thought I might have misheard and toned down my annoyance in my review in case it turned out I was wrong. :(
'Aithusa' sounds like a girl's name to me as well. I intend to write her as female. I read a fic where she was male today and I spent the whole time mentally substituting 'she' for 'he'.
