It's been snowing again.  Not just a flurry, but all over the ground.
Isn't it supposed to be April?

The roofer has just reported that bullet hole in my roof is responsible for the lesser leak. He thinks from a 22. A bullet hole???

This does not leave me feeling more secure.

Well, today I more or less took off, after a rather sleepless night, what with the exploding transformer KABOOM and fire engines that brought the whole neighborhood out in various stages of undress, and listening for tornado sirens through overly exciting winds and lashing rain. Face no less painful. Temperature up. Add massive congestion and general achiness. Also cramps, tra la. Spent day in bed, with Izzy as hot water bottle and Picts & Martyrs for rare moments of lucidity. Can't bring self to open e-mail about overdue manuscript.

Surely things will improve soon.

Uncle Richard died this morning. It wasn't completely unexpected, as his ill health was the main news from the family reunion that happened while I was in England. (*Go away, guilt! After all,the date was set well after I'd booked my ticket*) But it's very sad nonetheless ( Read more... )

Today I received a note saying that Aunt Helen had died on May 14th. Why didn’t they call in time for the funeral? And why, oh why, didn’t I physically write the letter I’ve been writing in my head for ages? At least she never had to go into a nursing home, something she’d been fighting tooth and nail.
