Out and About

We decided to take advantage of the fact that this past week was the last one where people were still legally required to wear masks on public transport and in enclosed spaces to actually go out. We were supposed to be visiting my cousin on Wednesday but as he had to call it off we thought we'd go to Brighton on the train. The train was fine, ( Read more... )

Brighton sounds about normal for the beaches and lifeguards at this time of year as they are usually fairly full of people who come down to the coast to holiday. I must admit we usually avoid Brighton unless we can get their mid-week like you did as it's usually got lots of festivals on at this time of year (in normal times).

I'm dreading tomorrow - I really hope that we don't lock down again.....!!!!

I wouldn't be in the least bit surprised if we did have to lock down again. Places may want people to wear masks but without the power to enforce it I am sure there will be lots of idiots who won't do so. It wouldn't have been difficult to carry on with mask wearing as everyone on the train was wearing them and wearing them correctly.

I wondered if Brighton was normally like that. I don't associate it with swimming in the sea as it's a place we always used to go to in winter rather than risk the summer crowds. We thought it would be safe enough midweek and before the school holidays and it just about was.

The trip to Brighton sounds lovely - a proper day trip to the seaside!

Good luck with the new neighbours.

Thanks. I'm told they are very nice though I haven't met them yet. At least the house has been sold and not rented out again, which we were a bit worried about despite being very lucky with the neighbours who have just moved out.

It was lovely to have a proper day at the seaside. We even had fish and chips when we got back :)

Went on my first train ride this weekend coming back from vacation, even though everyone was required to wear masks - and I'm fully vaxxed - I still felt a little uncomfortable since there were so many people. It was kind of hilarious because in the waiting area, there was an announcement about trying to keep six feet of distance, and I looked around at people packed in so close. They made no attempt to make it possible to keep six feet of distance and were definitely not doing anything to encourage it.

Hope your new neighbors are nice.

This week was the first time I put on make-up in over a year. I didn't miss it.

I put makeup on sometimes but much less often than I used to.

We're quite lucky as the platforms at our local station are long so we were well spread out on the platform and the train wasn't busy at all. It felt fine to be travelling again. Hope you had a good vacation.

I'm told our new neighbours are nice but apparently they aren't moving in yet so I will have to wait and see.

It was a good vacation - some family issues, but mostly nice.

Sorry about the family issues but glad the vacation was nice anyway.
