Catching up with the meme

After a slightly more active couple of weeks we haven't really done anything this week apart from declutter and garden. We decided it wasn't really necessary to have instruction manuals for devices we no longer possess or cables that connect something to something when we had no idea any longer what the something was so those have been cleared out ( Read more... )

I have seen Kate Bush on stage and she was pretty amazing. It was back in the late 70s and it was more like a theatre production rather than a concert.

I can imagine. She came into the Sound Archive once to research unusual sounds for an album and I happened to see her then. She was very sweet and not in the least bit "starry".

Oh, Pete Duel - that broke my heart! I was at a convention a few years ago that Ben Murphy was at. He spoke about how he had spent the rest of his life trying to find another friendship like that and had never managed it. And that he still felt guilty because he hadn't realised anything was wrong. It was so moving.

That's so sad. What an awful and unexpected tragedy it was, particularly for someone close to him like that. I rewatched the series a few years ago and Pete Duel just shone on the screen. He could have had a great career.

I recognise the library of vintage instruction books and pile of cables for nothing you own all too well!

A change of scene as required is a really good idea - especially after the periods in the past 18 months when a change of scene meant moving to look out a different window.

Celebrity deaths - I realise that Marco Simoncelli is still the first one that comes to my mind. And Ayrton Senna - I remember seeing that crash live on TV, and then watching the medics cluster around the car. I said to S2C "He is dead." It was the way they were reacting and moving him, somehow - they were reactions to a body not a severely injured person. Officially he is said to have died on reaching hospital, but I still think he was dead within seconds of the crash.

It's amazing how many instruction books and cables get left high and dry after the original device has gone. We still had the instruction book for J's old tv which we gave to my parents about 20 years ago and my mum replaced 10 years ago!

I would really like a proper change of scene but at least we can get out and about a bit more.

I'm not a motor racing fan but I remember Ayrton Senna dying too. Always so sad to lose people young.
