A new experience

I've just done something I've never done before which is quite an achievement in these Covid days. I've lived in the centre of London and I've worked in the centre of London but I've never been to central London on holiday before. I needed to use some points from a holiday property company (for Brits it's like the Holiday Property Bond but not),

Staycactions are good when they are places you don’t know very well. I think the other big advantage is that if you had decided to go to an exhibition you can usually still do that easily by booking on a phone (portable computer!). Glad you had a good time.

I’ve got a really much better idea of local places due to Covid.

It's amazing how much better I know the area round here now!

We were originally thinking of going to Kensington Palace but as we're Art Fund members and it's free for us it meant we couldn't book a slot online. We didn't particularly like the look of the queue so we decided to skip it (we've been before) and go and look at Portobello Road instead as neither of us had ever been there. The antiques market wasn't really there but there were plenty of small shops to look at, so that was fun.

That sounds like a lovely way to spend a few days. I think you are the 4th person I know who lives in the Home Counties who has taken their first ever holiday in London :)

It seemed a mad idea at first but it worked out really well. There weren't many tourists so it wasn't very busy and the schools weren't back so the infection rate wasn't as ghastly as I'm sure it's going to become. Also it was a nice way to celebrate our wedding anniversary :)

J isn't originally from the Home Counties so it wasn't a first for him but it was so much fun we might well do it again.
