No need to panic

Dec 23, 2021 16:06

I still can't rid myself of the habit of panicking that I need to do loads of things at Christmas. I do not need to buy loads of presents; I do not need to completely clean the house from top to bottom (actually I do but I don't have to do it all at once); I do not need to get ready for somebody to come to stay; and I do not need to buy all the ( Read more... )

Good luck with the Christmas get together. I'm panicking a lot because of all the rules we have to follow and the paperwork is just piling up for our cruise next week. My husband nearly had a freakout yesterday about it.

Anyway, hope things get better soon. Have a great Christmas.

Same to you. I do hope your cruise goes ahead without any further complications.

We're all keeping clear of one another this year (like last year) as we have a 93 year old in the mix. even though we're vaccinated and boostered, none of us want to pass a cold, flu or worse to her. Oh, well, that means I don't have to cater for the mister's family which is fine by me.

20. I'm on board with incredibly messy being a theme!

Incredibly messy is my entire decor :)

We kept clear of each other last year but rules are not so strict this year, though they probably will be again before New Year. Having someone very elderly in the mix does mean a lot of extra caution. I was always petrified of passing anything on to my parents when they were older and what I would be like if they were still alive now I hate to think about.

I used to play Candy Crush way too often, but I spent too much money.

Does incredibly messy count as a theme?

LOL.

Luckily I have resisted spending any money but I have watched an awful lot of adverts :)

"Incredibly messy" is definitely my style choice.

I think the only thing you can do about LF tests is to let someone know you've done one. That seems to prompt the "yes, we've done one too and we're OK" response. I know what you mean about being a bit nervous - although they seem to be downplaying the Omicron doom now, don't they! I found out there are only 3 people in ITU in our local hospital with Covid, and if you compare that to last year it's a ridiculously small number, so I'm hopeful that it's not as risky as everyone first thought.

I'm not sure if I'm more worried about Omicron or the amount of germs that Great Nephew F might be storing up. He's already managed to give my brother and sister-in-law two terrible colds and the Norovirus since he began nursery in September!

I've got to send my brother a text about Monday so I might drop in the fact that we will do an LFT casually. I've remembered that Nephew M has to do them regularly for his job anyway so will probably have done one. I was a bit worried because it was his birthday last week and M + birthday = pub, particularly as he missed it last year.

You sound a bit like me! No need to clean, no need to stress about food, no desperate rush to wrap presents... it is quite pleasantly unnatural!

That's the problem. It's so pleasantly unnatural that I'm panicking about the pleasantness of it :)
