Two exhibitions in a week!

Feb 08, 2022 16:42

After not having set foot in London since before Christmas we went up twice this week. The first visit was to see Durer's Journeys: Travels of a Renaissance Artist at the National Gallery.

More behind the cut.

Sounds amazing. we had a smaller Faberge collection in NYC a while back but that sounds much larger and more complete.

This past weekend, I went to see the Christian Dior exhibit and it was fabulous but my back was killing me afterwards for standing too long.

We were both exhausted after the Faberge exhibition as we'd walked from Victoria to the V&A and back as South Ken tube station is out of action as well as shuffling round the exhibition. We had fish and chips afterwards and felt we deserved them :)

I agree there was so much to see in Dürer, I'm glad I went twice.

I am very jealous that you got tickets to the Fabergé - every time I go on the website it says 'tickets available soon' and then I miss them! Ack!!

We were lucky that my brother and sister-in-law are so football mad that they would rather go to a football match than the exhibition! Keep trying for the tickets as it is worth it.

I would like to go to the Durer again but I don't think there is enough time left now.

Both sound fantastic but that's a lot to absorb in a week.

It really was a lot to absorb. After not going to a big exhibition for so long it was quite a shock to go to two.

I love where I live, and hope to stay here for the rest of my days... but I would love to have such wonderful exhibitions close at hand, they both sound fascinating.

Where we live has very easy access to London and whenever I think I'd like to move I remember what I would miss but I am always envious of your closeness to the sea. There are advantages and disadvantages everywhere.

The exhibitions were fascinating and I still can't believe my brother and sister-in-law preferred to go to a football match than see the Faberge exhibition!

Hi Kathy, this is Bimo, temporarily unable to log into LJ because of password troubles....

Cavendish and I just saw some pictures of the devastation caused by Eunice and are hoping that you and J are alright.

That’s really sweet of you both. Yes, we’re fine. Our next door neighbour’s fence smashed into our garden but otherwise we got off pretty lightly. We were well warned about this storm so had moved things that could get broken in the garden. All our electronic devices were charged and ready for power cuts but the power never even flickered!

It’s very unusual for London and the South East to get a Red Alert weather warning though and I hope it doesn’t happen more often because some of those gusts of wind were scary.
