So a kitten showed up at our doorstep last week, and we finally managed to lure her into the house on Thursday. She is an adorable little three month old tortie point siamese that someone probably dumped because she has a crooked tail. So everyone is going nuts in Austin right now due to the hurricane that will be hitting Galveston. Never mind that Austin is hundreds of miles away from the coast. People are buying gas and bottled water like its going to be Armageddon, what with all the rain we will be getting (we've been in a minor drought). I feel the need to say something, but I don't know what. In lieu of anything important, there is this: ARG! That's it, just freaking arg.

So I think that I have lost my planner. This is now more problematic than ever considering that Nick and I recently got engaged (do a happy dance!). So we are supposed to call and tell everyone that is important to us about this so that they can all be happy for us, but, like I said, my planner is missing. So after six months of everyone saying "she'll be alright in a bit", th reality comes slamming down like a fist. There is only a 50/50 chance that my mother will walk again. If they try to do another operation to reinforce the bone and it rejects, she will lose her leg. She is now going home, after nearly six months in hospitals or nursing homes ( Read more... )

Only five more days till I go to Belize. Am I worried? Only if worrying involves a stomache in knots and hoping that everything doesn't blow up in my face and wondering how in the hell I am going to sleep for four weeks without Nick. Insomnia and rain forest, here I come...
