the last thanksgiving before my mom died, i remember the three of us sitting around a table enjoying a nice dinner. my stepfather was sitting across from me when i kindly asked him to pass me a roll. in the football spirit, he literally passed me a roll. this, for some bizarre reason, infuriated my mother who then proceeded to storm up the stairs,
