Two months is a long time to ignore a live journal, especially after three years of pretty regular updates. But I think I needed the break. More than that, my family needed my time ( Read more... )

Well, knowing is half the battle, as they say. Now that you've been (finally!) actually diagnosed, perhaps they can begin to treat it. But I won't hold my breath. I have no faith in GPs whatsoever. None. Maybe other types of doctors are OK, but most GPs are uncaring and oblivious.

Anyway, it's great to see you back here! I hope they do find a good treatment that allows you to get back to your hectic life!

I can totally understand your reaction. I did the same thing when ODB was officially diagnosed with Type 1. Everyone expected me to fall apart, but I had been given one of my huge gatekeys to helping him feel better. When a person knows something is wrong and the docs finally give it a label and start treating it, the relief is greater than the shock ( ... )

Oh, Kathy I have missed your updates and it's so good to hear what is going on and to hear that you finally have a diagnosis. Of course, I'd much rather hear that you're all better, but like you say, a diagnosis is a step towards progress.

The medical profession is so lacking and disappointing. I know there are some stellar docs out there, but you have to search. I have been working with dingalings all year and I'm only just now finding someone who didn't say "gosh, I just don't know...I can't find anything wrong with you" or "it will probably go away on its own". I can only imagine how frustrating this has been for you! I just commend you for knowing what you need and not taking no for an answer.

You are in my thoughts all the time, and I am so appreciative of your call on Christmas eve. You are a good friend and I'm sending the good vibes out your way!

Yay (!!!!) to the return of the Kathy. I can honestly say that I am happy (diagnosed at last) and sad (chronic anything isn't fun) for you.

Take care of yourself, lady. You are more special than any of us can tell you. {hug}

Knowing is always better than not knowing. I've been battling chronic illness for some time now and the regular medical community has been of no help except to keep pumping me full of antibiotics and steroids and continually offering anti-depressants to help me cope. I've begun working with alternative doctors this last spring, and I have hope to improve my health. I just endured an episode that would have generally led to pneumonia, and with alternative herbs, vitamins, and therapy, I think I'm going to beat this batch without months of antibiotics and steroids!

As for the sores in your mouth, be very careful what toothpaste you use. The foaming agent in many seems to aggravate the condition. If your toothpaste has warnings about poison and what to do in case of ingesting it, I would switch brands. I use a natural brand without all the poisonous additives. Oh, and the special mouthwash gives nearly instant relief. It is wonderful!

Increasing your Vitamin C could be very beneficial to you. (((hugs))) Take care of
