K heres what you do, if you can use regular internet, you can use aim... you need to setup a proxy server for it (I don't have aim here but it should be under preferences), you want to set it to the same information you find in internet explorer under tools->internet options->connections->lan settings, theres a proxy box and it has an address and a port, put that same information into AIM :)

explain more.. I have the same problem in my lab and I'm trying to get around it. They dont even allow pop ups in our lab so I cant even use the messanger from aol.com

Well you can use aim express but when I get back to tucson id gladly show you this method, it can be kind of complicated

I'm guessing it won't let you install the software in the first place. I'd bet you can go through AIM Express... www.aim.com -> AIM Express.
