I have 2 separate filters. One for friends journals and one for communities. When i'm pressed for time, I read them separately.

I do that as well... but its the journals that are starting to bog me down.

Ahh. Maybe trim down your flist then? I hate doing it, but there are always people on my list who it seems like I never comment to or really read their entries, yet the entries do take up space.
