I Hate Cooking

Sorry, but I do. I know a lot of you don't, that you actually enjoy this never-ending task of food preparation and cooking, not to mention the planning and grocery buying and all that crap. And then, there's the cleanup. But I quite honestly hate it. There are so, so, so, so many more interesting things in this world to do that to cook or bake or ( Read more... )

Michael hates it, too. He'd rather not eat. He thinks eating should be done as fast as possible so he can get on to more fun things. His cooking reflects that attitude, with his one pan dinners or fried eggs on toast or melted cheese on toast with avocado an tomato.

I'm so sorry you hate it. I don't think it is weird or wrong. Some days I hate it too, or am just too tired of doing it to want to turn around and do it again. We have "find your own" meals frequently, where we'll all eat whatever we can find, just so that I don't have to cook and so that I don't have to be responsible for feeding 3 other people. Even though we have little ones, it works. We do feed them, but on those nights it is nothing extravagant. And they are remarkably good at feeding themselves. I put easy to eat/fix things on the bottom shelf of the pantry and the kids can help themselves. (But lots and lots of the time, I do love to cook. Hey, there....glad to know someone else dislikes cooking! I like to eat, or at least I think I do, but Calvin claims that I don't seem to enjoy eating, either, just because I seem to always find something else to do when it's time to eat. "Oh wait, I need to run upstairs and do this," or "oops, I forgot to.., so I'll be right back," etc. Maybe he's right. If it weren't for him, I'd revert back to my single days and would be eating once a day or once every two days.

I've read your posts, and I'm sorry I haven't commented yet! been a busy week. I hoped to post today re:my job offer and comment on your hives, etc. But I got busy getting stuff done aroudn the house and then while I was cooking, Calvin decided that it was time to have "the conversation" about my job offer. Short story is that he's accepted it and is realizing that I'm probably going to take the offer. It's bedtim now, so I'll try to get around to posting tomorrow.

Oh, goody. I've been hoping you'd post about the job interview. I should have asked. How'd it go? So you got an offer? I'm eager to hear all about it and who its with and such.
