Beautiful things and other weekend blah-blah-blah

Well, this past weekend started off beautifully…very beautifully, in fact. Friday evening, I found myself talking to not one, but two, very handsome young men while we were at a happy hour downtown. I went with Calvin, because my presence was needed at this small gathering of civil engineering grad students so that the other girl in the group ( Read more... )

Ha! I'll have to mention that to Calvin - he'll enjoy that! He said the scenery was great, and definitely the best views he's ever had from a plane, even though they were less than 10,000 ft up. However, he was surprised by how suddenly the plane moved when the rudders were changed, etc. He said it felt exactly like a roller coaster ride. Re: flying a plane, I think he was intimidated by the amount of instrumentation and the multi-tasking required.

Yes, he says all that you say is accurate - double wide coffin, invisible rails, etc. Too bad he didn't get to see any rails. Maybe a prairie dog or something?

Decor: John's like that, and we have EXACTLY the same agreement...he hauls the boxes, I do everything else. He's become less cranky in the past few years, because now he can pretend we're decoration "for the children".
If you want decor, then get decor! It's the beauty of being an adult...like, if you want cookies for supper, you can have them, because who's gonna tell you no?

If you were here, you could have Martin Moix as your gastroenterologist. I'm glad I didn't know him better in college because that would have been too weird.

Decor: Kat, are you sure you aren't married to Michael? Your story cracked me up. Michael gripes a lot, too, but now we've moved the boxes into our attic that is accessible from a doorway upstairs (super easy), so I can get all the xmas decorations anytime I want. Speaking of, the neighbors 3 doors down have had their tree and stockings up for about 2 weeks! I'm wondering if they don't have someone being deployed before xmas or something ( ... )

Cool, between you and rebl1969, I feel much better. It doesn't solve the problem, but it makes me feel so much better to know I'm not the only one dealing with this every year. We can't move the decor, because our tiny townhouse just doesn't have the room, and the high storage shelf is too nice to have (gets it out of the way), so I will have to deal with his bitter complaining as we struggle to get the stuff down. Oh well, I feel as if I can deal iwth it a bit better this year, knowing I'm not completely alone here.
