So apparently being married means I'm grown up now, and my parents no longer have obligations to store stuff for me. I don't really agree - but I wasn't really given any choice in the matter. So I've got whole plastic tubs full of stuff I thought was important enough to keep over the years.

Keep 'em, I say. Then again, I still have the sole award I won in high school: a fake-looking wood-and-plastic trophy with a peeling sticker I got for softball. I think the screw that attaches the trophy bit to the wood stand is even crooked, so it isn't on right.

I still have my grade 10 science notes and all those damn certificates with the black and gold stickers you got at the end of every year of elementary school. So I vote keep -- except for the stuff like your VIP plaque. Nobody needs to keep those ;)

As someone in the middle of moving, I say burn it all. Burn it with fire. But that may be the moving-stress talking.

look, if we weren't under fire restrictions, and I had some marshmallows handy, this might be a good idea :)

But still...there's something about those little gold statuettes that say 'congrats! you participated in softball!'

I'd say keep a couple that mean a lot to you and dump the rest. The couple can remind you of the rest without you having to cart tacky awards with you throughout your life.

And now I need to give myself the same advice!

I am the Queen of the Packrats, so I naturally say keep everything. But really, the best thing to do is keep only the things you want (plus the things you can't decide on - you can always change your mind later) and get rid of anything you don't really care about.
