I've never been on a plane before, and I have not been out of NYC in almost 8 years. Also the only states I've ever been was good 'ole PA and NJ.

That should be a fun trip. I like the Seattle area. Likely culture shock given how long you've been in NYC. Flying is fun. I've flown hundreds of times. Get a window seat and enjoy the view, try to figure out where you are as you cross the country.
