No. I don't think we neglected to invite Caroline and Val to pizza. I just think that they were deep in discussion with someone, and we didn't want to intrude.

Actually, I just recall it being bantered about to the talent and not the directors.

I don't think anyone ever made a point to invite them in the past. Since they are usually in discussion post rehearsal they just usually weren't part of the group sitting around discussing it.

Sketch and I were always pretty much the inviters of pizza-hangout-itude and we started out asking them regularly, but they could never make it so eventually we stopped asking them and a few cast members that we knew had priors.
