I'm not planning on seeing either one because I can't stand movies that depict severe violence against women. However I was curious about it so I googled in and read the wikipedia on both films. I would say after reading the plots that the original was probably a freakier movie. If you see it let me know what you think.

Christal...see you at the movies just not this one.

It is really hard to watch those types of movies. Even if there is some sort of justice in the end, it still doesn't feel very redeeming, does it?

No it dosen't and I feel that films like this can sometimes make people numb to violence against women because of the graphic depiction. We as viewers can become desensitized as a result of the entertainment value. Rape to me is nothing to ever be entertained by. Of course that's not to say that when I see the commercial and the announcer says " what would you do if blah, blah, blah." That I don't say the bastards wouldn't leave alive. But I won't go see it.

Christal...revenge is a dish best served cold with cute sandwiches and a nice glass of fine wine.

Can't wait to see it. Saw the first one years and years ago, and it's still one of my fave horror movies of all time. :)

When I think about the story, I do think it is scary and sad, but I think Steve and I just couldn't get over the music and the bumbling cops. I think I want to see the remake though.

I want to see it, but I haven't seen the original yet. Wes Craven is a mixed bag. Some of his stuff is great, a lot of it is cheese. The remake for The Hills Have Eyes was decent. Still haven't seen the sequel.

Maybe because Steve was clowning it the whole time, I couldn't get into it, but the music is pretty cheesy to me. I don't know if I want to watch the remake of the Hills have Eyes. Especially if it falls in line with the trends of "Hostel" and those other gory movies. I think that might be too scary for me!
