Star Wars in Concert - a fantastic show!

Grrr... sometimes I hate LJ. I had a very long post with photos in the works and hit the back button by mistake and lost it all *sigh*

So, I'm starting over.

I had a very busy Star Wars costuming weekend. Saturday we were busy from 9:00-5:00 with an appearance at Pottery Barn Kids at one mall, then taeriel and I drove to another south bay mall to appear ( Read more... )

Sounds like a great time! How funny that you ran into Joanie!

Yeah, there were some people I never saw (like, costume volunteers on the other side of the venue I'd never made it to). But I'm walking along and Joanie is literally next to me - so that was just total pure coincidence! I wonder if our venue felt more crowded just because of the way the concourse is set up. It's not very wide, so when they added in the exhibit stuff and costume volunteers you had tons of bottle necks that just were not moving.

The show as good though :)

I would have to agree with you on the second half of the concert. It seemed like they were lacking in original trilogy footage for the themes they wanted to create. I can see how the images might have been chosen to make a good music video, regardless of the story that Anthony Daniels would tell directly beforehand. If one hadn't had the story prompt, it might have seemed less odd ( ... )

I'm so happy you were able to be a part of the volunteer effort Lily! Your battle Padme costume rocks! So were you as surprised by the crowds as I was? It was crazy! I hope you had fun :)

Yeah, I just didn't like the cheap after-thought music video feel of the last act. It felt thrown together, and I was tired of seeing the same footage edited together. I know, I'm being picky. But it just didn't hold up to the rest of the show.

I'm glad you got to see the concert again from a different seat. I also thought it was cool to see some of the effects from farther away. There were some effects I missed from up close (like the shadows behind the curtain before it dropped).

I'm sorry I left the dressing room without bringing you out to take photos of your costume! I was feeling in such a hurry to get pictures of everything before the concert was over. I didn't mean to forget you :( I know Jessica got a lot of pics, I got a few of the back of your costume I guess as back up in case hers are not clear, or don't show your bodice stitching or

I had a great time! Thanks! :) I just wished I'd brought some powder so I could touch up my makeup in the evening. I didn't think I'd be there so long, and wow my face was shiny! XD Hahaha. I'll remember next time! Live and learn, right?

The crowds were amazing. Sometimes I had to squeeze BEHIND the exhibits in order to get anywhere, just because the area in front of the exhibits were so crammed no one could move. I wonder what the regular attendees thought of the crowds and exhibit area.

Oh, it was no problem about the photos! I'd just mentioned to Jessica that as soon as I got some shots of my outfit, I'd be ready to leave any time, and then she offered to take some photos as well. You got a slightly different angle from her, so I definitely appreciate both sets. Thank you!

Looks like it was a fun time! We have two coming up in the NY/NJ area a few days apart I think. I want to do both so I can see the concert for one, and then do what you did for the exhibit at the other ;-) Nice to know Slave Leia was okay, that was going to be my preffered costume choice for one of the concerts and ANH at another.

If they approve you for Slave Leia, just make sure that you team up with a Jedi or something so you can borrow their cloak to walk to and from your posing spot. That's kind of what Shea did. Either that or Scott was tall enough to just put his arm around her and cover her with is robe as they walked. I don't know how large the New York lobby/concourse is. If it's really wide open and large you may not have the problem with traffic jam bottle necks like we did. But at the very least be prepared that wherever you stop to take photos a circle will form around you. Finding a wall or backdrop is best, in a location that isn't too narrow. That's my advise :)

Have fun!
