I don't really understand the whole having kids thing, anyway. But it really doesn't make sense to have the kids outnumber the parents. I mean, if there are 3 kids and they run off in 3 different directions, what do you do?
I'm not saying anything should change about this and I am certainly not condoning eugenics or anything, but I just find it interesting that in a society where you have to get licenses and permission and liability waivers to do anything (drive a car, remodel your house, go skiing), you can have 14 kids and no one approaches you to make sure you are mentally or financially able to deal with that.
With a world population of approximately 6,706,993,152 (6.7 billion, CIA.gov est July 2008) growing at an exponential rate with an approximate doubling time of 61 years, we are looking 13 billion people on Earth by 2067 unless birth and death rates change. There were about 513,000 in 2005 (childwelfare.gov), the last year statistics were available. Seriously, adoption might be an option.
I agree. I guess making babies is a right but adopting is a privilege? I have heard that it's a big process to adopt, which I understand they don't want bad bad people adopting children and doing terrible things to them. But it doesn't seem they're as strict with foster parents, and they get money for it!
sigh.
I don't disagree with people and the making of the babies, but maybe that should be part of "going green" and having some goddamn limitations on the baby making.
