i spend way too much time in between postings here, i guess. baldanders mentioned recently that his goal is to post daily this month. that seems like a good idea. i might try doing that, even if it's just scribbling out some sort of nonsense, to make myself get back in the habit ( Read more... )

I know what you mean about feeling down, I too am about to start I think, damn being a woman sometimes huh, I swear its seems we get all the shit!! I am very turned on and inspired by those who have fire to succeed, as are most people that have drive and want to do more, be more, and live "outside the box". It's hard to be around people who don't share that drive, that is very normal to feel!

Anyway we still need to get together, seriously come down for a weekend if you can, take the train or something, we're only about 1 1/2 hours from the city but I guess that depends on where.....

you should mapquest it 14 alpha st. milford ct 06460.... we'd love to have you for a weekend or even just a day, you could come see the babies and maybe just get a little break from reality.... have some good homemade food dont' worry Matt would be making it not me ;) and jump on the trampoline! You are always welcome....not one of those things someone says, I'd really like it if you decide to visit!!

thanks, christina. i'll definitely have to do that. it'd be a fun little adventure. hopefully i'll be getting some sort of real schedule here soon, or at least one that gives me more than one day off in a row.
i haven't jumped on a trampoline in forever...

i've decided that ultimately, i'm just not a very nice or tolerant person. i think i fake a lot.

I know a lot of nice people who don't feel nice. But I think most decent people feel less nice and tolerant than they act. For some folks, it seems to bother them, that they feel false when people perceive them as nice, because they know they're not nice inside.

But nice is as nice does. When you say you "fake" a lot, it sounds to me like what you mean is you don't act on all your negative impulses. To me that's not "fake," that's being civilized.

It may be that some of your not-nice and intolerant impulses could be acted on more, for (perhaps) other people's good or your own self-respect. That's up to your judgment. But I'll say that in general I'd rather know people who are careful about that than people who make a big deal out of "honesty" and "forthrightness" and being "genuine," by which they too often mean saying whatever they think or feel at any moment and damn the consequences.

When I first moved to New York -- twenty years ago! -- I systematically rode all the subway lines to the end, each time feeling a little satisfaction that I had made it to another part of New York, often parts of town my native friends had never been to. I think I was claiming the city, making myself at home in it.
