Thanks. She's a sun conure - kinda looks like a parrot just a lot smaller. The vets said that 17 is the oldest they've ever seen, but I've read they can live to 30 (maybe in the wild?) We took her home and buried her outside. VERY hard thing to do. We haven't been able to even face her cage yet :(
I'm really sorry :( I had to have my 16 year old childhood cat to sleep back at the end of 1999. It's such a hard thing to do, even when you know it's for the best. Can you maybe store her cage somewhere else for the time being? Somewhere out of immediate/constant eyesight until the immediate shock has passed? Or would that hurt more?
I'm sorry about your cat *hugs* It really is a hard thing to do. I am thankful Paco didn't make that my choice - she knew it was time for her to go.
We put the cage in the back room. I thought seeing an empty cage was difficult, but seeing an empty SPACE where the cage was is even harder. I don't think there is any "easy" way to do this :(
