Well, I went to the University Vision Clinic. I didn't have any recommendations, nor am I familiar with the their reputation. However, it did meet my on criterion: it took UW student insurance.

Hey, glasses are classy. Contacts are for people who are lazy and or vain (perhaps?)... Or just like laying on the couch without the glasses poking them in the face. In any case, the new ones look good!
