Tomorrow I start my year of clinical rotations! My first rotation is family medicine at a health clinic in Wimauma, FL. I'm really excited to start tomorrow, but unfortunately my school is SO FRAKKIN incompetent that my housing situation is all screwed up

Maybe it was a blessing in disguise that you saw that apartment the way it really is. I'd document everything and even get pics if you can so you can show it to housing and get better accommodations at a reduced rate or a refund on your housing costs. They at least owe you the cost of the hotel for the inconvenience this is causing.

I hope things work out and I'm rooting for you on rounds. You'll do awesome.

Oh we plan on getting pictures of everything....but even cleaned up it's still gonna be pretty crappy, lol. Oh yea we are definitely going to make them pay for the hotel stays no matter how long it takes to get that money from them. But they won't move us...they are way too cheap!

Yea I'm stuck in a hotel for another couple days....I hate not being able to unpack! I feel so displaced....and a ton of stuff is in my car still!

For what it's worth, Duke doesn't put you up in too much better. Ryan is in some apartment in Red Springs, NC and the first day -- the very first HOUR -- that he was there, he killed 12 centipede-millipede things. He said they were EVERYWHERE, and by the end of the first night there was a pile of dead ones him and his roommate killed. It made me so sad for him. Then the apartment right next door started playing super loud music right at midnight that continued until Ryan and his roommate made the decision to call the cops. Luckily, since then, they contacted AHEC who puts the students up who have tried to resolve the issue, but the bugs still tend to be a problem. Gross.

Also, to look ahead to the future, I'll be staying at an apartment made out of a building that used to be a TB sanitorium for my surgery rotation.
