Nice weekend

Our first potential hurricane of the season is on the way--hopefully the last as well.  Maybe we'll get to go home early or even get a day off from work.  I just hope they don't wait until it's too bad before they let us go home.  All schools are open tomorrow so it won't be until Tues or Wed.  If the models are right, we are headed for a direct ( Read more... )

I've been so out of it, I didn't even know Fay had been named! Yikes! I hope it doesn't gain strength. My dad's in Sarasota; I guess I should keep better track of these things. LOL!

We also saw a Florida Panther on the way home while we were out in the middle of no where.

*squee* I had heard that, on top of sprawl forcing them into more populated areas, their own population has remained pretty good. I think I'd freak out with delight if I came across one in the world. Yet another reason I hate having an outside kitty cat, who'd make such a tasty snack for wildlife. ;)

Keep us posted on the storm, and your preparations!

So far so good with Fay. They have downgraded it to a tropical storm and it should pass to the east of us--not so good for the rest of the state. I think they said it will make landfall around Ft Myers so hopefully Sarasota won't get hit too bad.

I did!!! I was so yelling and jumping up and down (in the car, no less)! Poor kitty probably heard me and will never come out of the woods!

I just did a googgle 'get directions' map to see where you went to. Now I know and know a little bit more. It sounds a good trip. Did you get a chance to walk around much? I look forward to the pics just as soon as you get the immediate incoming uninvited guest of a hurricane out of the way.

Keep us updated as and when you can.

I am sorry I don't know how to reference everything yet. There were lots of trails. I have an old back injury so my walking is limited. They did have a ramp out that went out a ways to take pictures. It never occurred to me at the time but later on that night--if an alligator had decided to take a nice little stroll up the ramp on had decided to park himself at the end of the ramp--well, we'd still be there screaming if not eaten up! You just don't think of these things. It's probably just as well or you'd sit and home and do nothing.

I have the pictures uploaded and will try and post tomorrow. It looks like the hurricane has fizzled into a tropical storm and will hit more of the east coast at least for now. Those things tend to have a mind of their own.

See? This is why Britain is such an attractive place to eat. We have nothing lurking in the undergrowth that might want to eat us. No poison ivy either!

I will await your photos!
