Go you! I'm so glad you told your family what you need. What a great 40th birthday gift to yourself. :-) We will be here, too (though probably spending Christmas itself with in-laws in some combination of Northampton and southern Vermont) so we look forward to hanging out. Though we should hang out before then, too. *grin* Stay safe and dry!

Good on ya for reclaiming your birthday. I'm always a big fan of not doing things you find unpleasant just because other people expect you to follow tradition. Doubtless your celebration will be much more enjoyable for not involving airports and teeming masses.
