Two neighbors agree to meet at their neighborhood park the next day. "When should we meet?" one asks. "At noon," says the other, and they agree. The next day, neither of them showed up until 2pm. However, neither of them was late.

How can this be?

They're on vacation in a different time zone.

Nope. I will edit to say "the neighborhood park".

Did you mean to put the quotation marks around "At noon, says the other"? IT MIGHT BE ESSENTIAL TO THE RIDDLE!!!

Ok, they were eaten by time shifting planar creatures in the night, and time now effects them differently.

It is daylight savings time change day, and also the park is in a different time zone.

The phrase 'showed up' : they were invisible until 2pm because of a military experiment, though they arrived at noon.

They only agreed that they *should* meet at noon, but neither of them took the suggestion too firmly.

I argue syntax because I am teh dumb.

They both use analog watches, and there is a localized electromagnetic disturbance.

I do seriously want to know the real answer though.
