From my Chem book:

"Skin cancers even have been linked to a single episode of extreme suburn in adolescence with the effects showing up many years later."

Anyone remember what happened to me this pas summer? Yeah, I'm screwed.

oh, and evidently, sunblock only blocks UV-A rays (which damage the outer dermis), not UV-B rays (which penetrate into the dermis and cause mutations and cancer). scary! alison's been learning about it in class.

love you!

A. That's not chemistry. I am jealous.

B. There was probably one case where someone got serious burns (not like just a really really bad sunburn, but actual burns) and then got cancer. They can't be like "Remember that one time back on August 21st at 3:01 pm when you had that bad sunburn and it hurt to touch it for a week? Yeah, that's the only cause of your cancer." You probably have nothing to worry about as long as you don't get repeatedly bad cases of sunburn.
