and keegan, msn, if it isn't the only means of communication you have with someone, is ok, but pouring your soul out to someone via cyberspace is a bit weird. In my opinion.

Man, I am with you. I'm a bit of a hypocrite, because I am on msn fairly frequently, but I stick by my dislike for it. You're exactly right that it has a uncanny way of sucking people into it. I'm a perfect example. Too often have I sat down with the intention of asking one person one question, and ended up getting into casual conversations, and glancing at the clock and realizing that four hours have slipped by unnoticed. That's just wrong, and a huge waste of time.
I am ashamed that msn has sucked me in as far as it has, and I totally approve of boycotting it. At least for a while. I think we could all do with a nice long break.
Moni had the right idea when she said she's taking a "hiatus". What a great word. Hiatus. Almost as good as gung-ho. :P

Duncan...you are one of the most thoughtful and intelligent people I've ever met, and I fully respect your points and the weight that your knowledge gives them.

:P Jesus man. In like every entry you've posted you've put the word and slipped an extra "e" in there. He doesn't belong there! The word is perfectly happy with two vowels! YOU'VE UPSET THE BALANCE!

Fair enough, I was always under the assumption that argument was spelt 'arguement' thus have been spelling it like that forever. So if it is occasionally spelled 'agruement' its because my mind is still adjusting to not having to hit that e. When I go to type argument my hand naturally goes to that e and it takes a conscious effort to not hit it. And it ain't easy. That being said nothing has really been said about what I said. I mean... like I said before I think it's going too far. I don't think it's going to solve anything, I think it'll do more harm than good, and I also think that our... dislike of msn is being misdirected. We're not going to fix anything doing what we are. We need to change our approach, not stop using it. If people stopped doing things whenever the initial approach didnt work we'd uh... have a lot less things (problem with using vague nouns, it gets increasingly vague later on

Well personally I agree and am hereby not going on MSN for a month! Seriously. Starting tomorrow, March the 1st, I will not go on MSN for one whole month. And after that we will see how I feel and maybe never go on AGAIN.

damn. Good point... I guess I just see LJ as a vent more than a way of communication. You don't really hold conversations on it (except for times like these), so you don't miss things like sarcasm, as much. But like Duncan said, touche.
