Woohoo! I no longer need to get my HIV tests done at an anonymous clinic: U.S. Lifts Ban on HIV-Positive Foreigners.

The state controls all of the anonymous clinics....

yes, but you don't have to give your real name to get tested or get results...so the state has data that a person has HIV, not the particular individual

Man, I never think to give out a different name than my own. Things like that never occur to me.

Yeah, when I got my green card, I was tested for HIV. Sadly, with additional research I've done, it's still on the books that I could be deported if I were ever diagnosed, and it's now up to the current administration to remove it from the health hazards list. It took having a Democratic majority in both the house and senate to get it removed.

That's some different hair!

On another note, I just got my H1B papers this year. I won the lottery it seems. I've got some questions for you :)

Wow, that ban sounds like such an old-world, paranoid legislation. I'm glad they revoked it so overwhelmingly. Man, took a while, huh?

Totally absurd. Yeah, it took getting a Democratic majority in both the House and the Senate to get to the floor though. Sadly, with additional research, I found out it's up to the US Dept of Health run by the current administration to actually remove HIV from the restricted list. At least they have the opportunity to do so now when it would have been illegal before. It may just have to wait until the next administration comes in though.

Would you be up for hanging out sometime? It's been awhile.
