I don't understand people who think nuclear power is any kind of solution. I don't understand them when they're my age; don't they remember Chernobyl? I grew up in such terrible fear of nuclear power. I don't understand older people; don't they remember Chernobyl? Don't they remember Hiroshima and Nagasaki?
I don't understand young people. Look at ( Read more... )

Oh, don't even get me started about the complete INSANITY of nuclear power. As if the power production risks weren't high enough... there is NOWHERE ON EARTH that is safe to put the spent fuel. Ugh. How hard is it to try and reduce power usage instead of trying to find new and insane ways of making sure that people can watch 20 hours of tv a day?

I'm not trying to argument. I don't feel like you can argue with people's beliefs, so I don't. I do dislike being told I'm not entitled to my opinion, though, which is from where this post originated.

Not my intention. More like "take the plans to the next plant and build it on Mars, because I don't want to live next to it".
As I said, I try not to care about people's opinions, as long as I get to keep mine. My experience with growing up with people who don't share my beliefs is that I can't change the way they think, no matter how valid my arguments, and when I get close to winning one, I've seen people put their hands over their ears.

That said, it doesn't sit well with me not having say. People have voted no to nuclear power and plants in this country, and even though the people voted no, the government built more. Sorry you took this personal, interesting that you did, and I basically still think I shouldn't have to argue, just get to say no. More nuclear development? Build them on Mars where there's no eco systems, not in my backyard.
