Mini Event! the spider and the mistletoe

Dec 30, 2011 00:08

Across the Keep runs a rather large spider, scampering from building to building, room to room and carrying with him a decent sized branch of mistletoe. One might catch him skittering up a wall to build a web above a doorway, or stringing mistletoe up from various points on the ceiling.

He doesn't linger in any particular place for too long, save ( Read more... )

Jacob had missed Joe's post, but he hadn't missed the occasional mistletoe. He knew what it was used for back home, but wasn't sure if that's what it was for here. Maybe it just found a strange place to grow out of.
Either way he makes an easy target as he's stopped to examine one of the sprigs.

He won’t be idly examining by himself long. Rapunzel comes bouncing up next to him, smiling lightly.

“Jacob!”

She hadn’t seen the post about the mistletoe, so she steps up next to him, peering.

“What are you looking at?”

Jacob smiles to 'Punzel and points out the plant. "Mistletoe. Some people use it as a Christmas decoration back home, but I'm not sure if that's it here or it just grew there on its own."

"Oh!" She stares at it - has no idea what the significance might be, and smiles.

"It's pretty."

For Sam .. gimme them lips! :: Open to others that wish multiple tags as well!

Tumnus had been stuck in a dark room for six days and nights, and albeit his company had been pleasant (Thank you, Isabella), he was still happy to be out and stretching his legs again; one could only pace for so long, after all.

The faun is making his way to the Great Hall, hoping to have a bit of a mid-day meal before making his way to the library.

He has noticed the sprigs of mistletoe strewn about the Keep, and rather than annoy, it actually amuses him and brings a smile to his lips. He pauses in the doorway of the Great Hall, contemplating his next direction; for as hungry as he might be, the fire looks mighty inviting as well.

Samantha had also spent the same amount of time cooped up in her room - she hadn’t left when the Keep went dark and had instead stayed inside where it was supposedly the safest.

She had had doubts about that, but venturing out into the blackness hadn’t been top notch on her list.

So, she was starving for real food and water and ready to wander even if just to go grab something to eat. She was flipping through a book and reading over a few penned notes that she’d made herself when she ran directly into someone soft.

“Blimey, watch where you’re-oh. It’s you.”

The best apology she can muster, Tumnus. Sorry.

As much as he wished it, Tumnus would have far rather the incident had been avoided overall. But being as how that wasn't the case and it was already over and done with, there was no point crying about it.

He's just about to head over toward he fire place, decision made, when someone bumps rather solidly into his back. Letting out a mixed 'oomph' and bleat of surprise, the faun nonetheless retains his balance quite easily; thank goodness for the sure footedness of a goat, eh?

A familiar voice begins to scold him and he turns just as Samantha realizes whom she bumped into. A wry smile touches his lips and the faun arches a brow slightly.

"Terribly sorry to be standing stock still, Samantha... Heaven knows I should look both ways before deciding to stay absolutely still."

"You should," she said accusingly, though there isn't a lot of malice behind it. "If you're just standing around, it makes it easier for people to just bloody smash right into you."

Like she'd done. And wasn't exactly outright apologizing for, but...it's the best she can do.

"What're you doing, lurking in doorways anyway?"

Isabella had read the post by Joe, but she didn't think much of the tradition itself. But that her spider-friend was alive, well, and up to mischief? This had all of her interest and she was on the search for the spider. Checking halls, and ceilings and walls for the familiar, if seldom seen, eight-legged body...

From the ceiling, zipping down a line of web to hang suspended at eye level comes Patty. He holds in his grasp a decent sized chunk of misletoe. He remembers Isabella. Patty lifts a free leg to wave at her.

That smile she's wearing, lights up even more recognizing the spider that helped her so very long ago.

"I've been worried about you," she raises a hand to him to 'sniff'. "I was afraid you were gone. Then I heard you were running around, well. I had to see you!"

Anna had…been reluctant to leave the confines of her room after her ordeal with the Headsman. She’d felt weakened both physically and mentally from the experience and hadn’t felt up to any socialization. The darkness that had fallen on the Keep had been something of a blessing, and she’d spent most of the time sleeping, curled in a ball on her bed though it was often disrupted with screams spawned from vivid nightmares.

Needless to say, Anna looked terrible when she finally came out, arms wrapped around her midsection protectively. It still hurt, still twinged, but Anna was hungry and she couldn’t stand it any longer.

So, here she is, peering into the hall of the dining room, dark circles under her eyes, looking for something quick to eat.

Mads sees her. Probably before she sees him. And he's eating. Doesn't the food look good? She could join him, you know. I mean there's more than enough here for two. And by the way he was smiling, he wasn't opposed to the idea.

"Bonjour, Anna." Polite as ever. Kind of makes your skin crawl doesn't it?

Oh. It's him. It's him - and there's every inclination to run and tear his face apart - but the vivid and still painful reminder of the consequences stop her in her tracks.

Mads won't die this day.

Instead, she ignores him, and goes to find food elsewhere. Probably at a table at the opposite end of the room or something.

Of course it's him. You didn't think you'd ever be able to escape did you? He's trying not to smirk as he watches her cross the room. It's hard, but he manages.

Unfortunately for them, Patty doesn't seem to care about the rather violent status of their relationship. The mistletoe is hanging, regardless.

He notices and just smiles.

Well. The past few days had been…pretty interesting but the company wasn’t bad, she had to admit.

Except she was really ready to be able to navigate the Keep and actually walk around instead of huddled near a fire with some of the staff. They were nice and all, but Raven was worried about Charles and she didn’t want to sit around. It had taken everything she had not to get up and go on a hunt for him.

In fact, that might be what she’s doing now, poking around the Keep in search of her brother, and for food.

Bobby was more than happy to not be confined to the bonfire as well. It'd been a hell of a lot better than what he'd found out had happened to some other people, and he was definitely grateful to have gotten there, but that didn't stop him from being relieved it was all over.

He was out exploring the Keep now that he could again, looking both for anything obvious that might have changed, any signs of a breach or something, and for his friends.

When he saw Raven, he smiled - because obviously he hadn't had enough of her company in the past few days - and headed towards her, pausing in the doorway of the room.

"Hey!"

She's distracted from her search when she hears a very familiar voice that makes her stop, turn around, and smile.

"Bobby! Hey!" Heading right over to him, she grins and gives him a hug. "It's way better to see you in the light. You okay?"

And since Raven hugs were probably the best part of his day, his smile widened as he returned it, lingering a little bit.

"Oh, man, definitely. And yeah, I'm good. A lot better than what apparently happened to some people. How are you doing?"
