Keeper has some life news...

Apr 10, 2007 20:50

So, I don't remember if I've mentioned this to any of you before, but I've been thinking for a while now about taking some time off school and trying to figure out what I want to do with the future as it concerns my life. I've always enjoyed school and been good academically, but I've never really loved it and it's never really pointed me in a ( Read more... )

Keepsiemylove! How exciting! I'm so very proud of you for making this kind of decision and this kind of leap on faith alone. *beams* :-)

I think you'll know where to turn for support, right? Because we'll always have your back. Of course, that means you'll have to remember me when you're all rich and famous. :-)

Hope your family is being supportive about it, too.

keeper, I think it's great! This is exactly the time in your life when you should experiment and take chances with your career. (Wow am I old. Hmmm, maybe I'll crochet you a remote-cozy for your new place.) Seriously, I wish I had had a better sense of what I wanted to do when I was younger. I just followed my nose through college. And grad school. Into a job where I was successful, but not really happy. And now, like flippet, options like that aren't open to me. So good for you! I think you're going to do great.

BTW, my sister (the one you met) and her friend (the one you met) LOVE LA and try to get out there every year for a short trip. They're constantly trying to get me to go with them, and if you're out there I might have to take them up on it.

Hey Keeper! I think this is a fantastic thing that you're thinking about! :-) I'm not sure exactly how much help I can be, but I want you to know you are welcome to get in touch with me if you have any questions or need any help. When I moved out here I was lucky enough to have someone I knew here already. I pretty much had an apartment and a job before I arrived - it was meant to be. I know how much safer it can feel to have someone that you know in a big overwhelming place like LA. So serioulsy, if you need anything, email me and we can go from there (my email is in my profile...).

Wow, you are so brave. I wish I had the nerve to do something like that when I was younger. Now I'm sort of settled and it would be difficult and for the most part I'm happy what I'm doing.

I think its great that your parents are supporting you on this. Its a much better why to help decide what you want to do with yourself. One of my best friends didn't listen to her inner voice and finished school instead of switching majors. She ended up working in marketing for a while before she nearly had a nervous breakdown. Now she is completely happy and teaching... but she's said before that she wishes she didn't take that particular route.

Good luck! And we'll be around if you need someone to listen.
