word up, poetry.com is more scam than honest contest or publisher. people have submitted pure crap and got told they were good enough to be published and/or a finalist. almost half the people I've talked to who have bought one of their poetry collections either never got them or only got them after more than a year of hassle, most of the rest only after months of hassle. they make loads of money off their poetry collections, which are never seen on shelf at bookstores or libraries, and their prizes are chump change compared to their profit. the better buisness bureau has had complaints about them, and personally, I wouldn't want to support them in any way.
Yes, but it still counts as a published work when working on a resume. If that's worth it to you, go for it. Your stuff is hardly crap.
For what it's worth, I've READ your poetry and I think you stand great chances of being published in smaller non-profit journals that can bear more weight. Do you have any locally? I can check out my sources, and see if I can get you some submission info on a few.
Fank you :} I don't know if I have any local non-profit journals- I'm not in the most... artsy of neighborhoods- but if you'd be willing to take a look for me, I would really appreciate it <3 No worries, though :D
Which is why I'm not buyin' anything from them. :D They stress in their letter that I have no obligation whatsoever, and so I'm not giving them a penny. :D
Been there, done that, and it wasn't that bad. I got my book a couple months after it was released, but no royalties. Still looks good on a college or job application.

Those massive compilations are always good for publishing credits. I have one or two published in there long long ago.

And it's good to see you again, Keir. *huggle* <3
