I like Chinese

Ok, someone tell me it is a BAD idea to do a program where I move to Shanghai, get a furnished apartment and teach preschoolers? I honestly cannot imagine anything cuter, and I could fit it in between my practicum and the spring hiring season...

i definitely don't think it's a BAD idea, but maybe just remember that you probably wouldn't be "teaching" preschoolers as much as entertaining, chasing after and being a foreign plaything for Chinese preschoolers. I mean, just like how JET wasn't exactly teaching, I think this wouldn't be real teaching either.
But it sounds fun and exotic. And I have major wanderlust lately so part of me wants to know where I can sign up to do that, too.

You know, I didn't get into this whole teaching thing because I like teaching, I'm doing it because I love and am fascinated by kids. I think this can fit that bill :) Thanks for making a very useful point I hadn't thought of though!

I think it sounds like a totally awesome idea.

There are international pre-schools in Tokyo. In fact my friend works for one of the most prestigious ones that is low on teachers, just in case you want to teach rich white pre-schoolers in Tokyo for a while.

Sounds like an amazing opportunity, actually.
