Whiskey tastes like smoke because the grain is left to ferment for years in an old smoked-out barrel. Also it is delicious! :D

The smoked-out barrel part certainly makes sense of it. I didn't really notice a taste beyond "burning", though. Unless you count the after-taste of smoke, in which case, yeah, it wasn't bad.

Also, I'll be in Vancouver next week. So! Shall we rendez-vous, as it were?
