Breaking Dawn

Earlier this year I decided to read the first three books in the Twilight series while I had access to my fourteen year old sister Jackie's bookshelf. She's been crazy about these characters for quite awhile so I was happy to get the chance to make her happy by borrowing her beloved Twilight, New Moon and Eclipse ( Read more... )

Hey you weren't supposed to read all of that, you haven't read the books yet =P

I'll finish Harry Potter, don't worry.

dont worry, I skimmed/skipped most of your review of the book so I wouldn't ruin anything. I did see the vampire baby thing though.... thats just weird... haha

Yeah, there's sort of a vampire baby... I won't clarify, because if you read and like Twilight you can read the rest of the books. But if you don't like it, I won't make you read them all and I'll just tell you about it =P

I've heard a lot about these Twilight books. I'm not big on vampires though. Really, the only book I've read about vampires I liked was Peeps. I've been tempted to try these Twilight books, but only because of how widely liked they seem to be. They definitely sound very "Phantom of the Opera"-ish to me and I love that musical.

(NOTE: I didn't read your thoughts on the books in case I do pick them up soon)

Also, you haven't read Deathly Hallows yet?! How have you avoided spoilers so long? lol I read the book slowly... at least in Harry Potter fandom terms. (2 weeks) And people who wanted to talk to me about it were threatening to spoil it for me just so they could get reactions. lol

I haven't completely avoided spoilers, but I just don't think about it really. The few things that I think I might have heard, well, I'm sure I can forget them enough when I'm reading the book to fully enjoy it =) Just started rereading Goblet of Fire last night (definitely one of my favorites) so hopefully I'll get to DH soon!

I definitely recommend picking up Twilight. If it's not your thing, then don't read the rest (though the second one, New Moon, was probably my favorite). It's definitely more romance than vampire, and they're not "typical" vampires anyway.
I agree with most of the criticism I've read about SM's writing, but once you get into the story, you're in there =)

"There's a lot more 'teen girl' to my personality than I'd like . . ."
Hey, don't get rid of all of that "teen girl." Things like that is what keeps us young at heart!

Good point =) And I'm all for being young at heart! It's just that for the most part teens can get away with stuff like not driving or working. But at my age, I really should have figured life out a little more by now... Oh well =)

True, but at least you recognize that. There are many older than you who still have to come to grips with that realization. Take things one at a time and take small steps. Eventually you will have things figured out, but never stop and go backwards! :->
