we finally sold our fire bowl last night - only our bedroom set, dining set, a ceiling light, and a poang chair remain.  ugh.

after the craigslist lady left, chris set to work removing the shelves and clothes rails from our bedroom closet (a huge job since the previous owners had installed everything using four inch nails and hundreds of them) and  ( Read more... )

How did you learn how to do things like take out and put in tile? I really want to redo some stuff in our bathroom, but I am afraid to mess anything up! Also, it would be really cool to take our our vinyl floor in the kitchen.

hee! we don't know how to do any of these things, really.

i mean, taking out tile is pretty easy. get a sledgehammer, a crowbar, and start whacking. do be careful that you're not cracking the ceiling below, though. be rational about it.

and as for installing tile, talk to the people you buy it from. we got very specific directions on how to seal the tile from the showroom. and we have watched it being done on hgtv. it's not really something you can totally screw up if you are working with the right tools.
