soggy Valentine's day

Lots of big puddles on the road on my way home. I didn't manage to avoid them all. Especially a big one on Alewife Brook Parkway. I've come home in rain before, but I guess not during rush hour, so I haven't had to take that route when it's been so wet, and I didn't anticipate how much water there would be there ( Read more... )

If the car is relatively old, there might just be wiring that needs replacing (cracked insulation and the like), though the more common symptom for that is failing to start until dry or warm, rather than stalling out later... it's a little bit "looking under the lamppost because that's where the light is brightest" but it's easy to check for cracked insulation on spark plug wires, at least...

Yeah, I figure it's probably something like that, and I had a problem with some old wiring before. It seems odd, though, that it should stall out only after running for a minute or two (sometimes even less, occasionally a little more), but work okay right after being started. Waiting overnight also seemed to make no difference, although it was probably too cold to dry much at all ( ... )
