Diacon Alley in Canterbury was dotted with a lot of book shopping, as placing Hijja in a town with used book shops usually is. And once again, the magical 'books find me' phenomenon cropped up.
They're always fun, but the Canterbury one had exceptionally unusual things I liked - there's a big one in my town and it only has bog-standard boring stuff in its SF section...
Wasn't that Oxfam shop fabulous? Canterbury was a great town for used bookstores, and my luggage-hauling muscles are now the stronger because of it. Getting everything into my suitcase and little-beaded-backpack was an exercise in ingenuity.
Yes, I've had occasion before to notice how many used bookshops Canterbury still has, and this time I could go shopping in them! Even though I only bought three books (one of which I have, it turned out, gah; but was able to swap it for a bit of fluff summer reading later).
My big kill was the only copy in the known universe of the sequel to a vanishingly rare historical x fantasy book by Susan Price (which I didn't even know existed, but had felt the want of), a hardback in perfect condition, remaindered for 99p! I'll read it after I get home.
That is quite a find (especially the 'didn't know existed but feel the want of' bit, *g*). The only one I actually finished is the one pinched from LN - but I'll get there!
(How's the Snamione/Herpe fic coming along, or should I better not ask?)
