Is the best way to quit smoking to go cold turkey or those awful patches or gums (keeping in mind I don't normally chew gum)? We were supposed to quit for New Year's but I had a crazy work project due on the 5th and knew that I didn't want any extra stress, so

I keep thinking that I'll quit soon, but that never really happens. How come no one smokes anymore? I've never tried any of the gums/patches/etc so I can't attest to their effectiveness.
