We're not told as much as I'd like about the gap year between Elliot's brothers' death and his appearance in canon. We know that Elliot's mother, after his brothers died, went mad with grief, and then latched onto the idea of living in the Abyss with them forever as an idyllic paradise. This idea was fostered in her by Yura, as we know, and Yura became very intimate with the Nightray family. We're not told how intimate Yura became with Elliot's mother, but we know that she was pretty high up in the cult because of her access to the children of the House of Fianna, and we know that Elliot's father cooperated with Yura in part because they didn't have a contractor for Raven yet and they had an illegal contractor in their house already to do experiments with. (I assume, personally, that the experiments were done with the other contractors and not Elliot personally, though I ( ... )

To compound the matter, Yura keeps reminding Elliot that Elliot is the reason why his mother is insane. If Elliot hadn't made that contract, then his mother would be sane. His brothers ( ... )

I am really very reluctant to ascribe a quadrant to their dynamic at this stage, because Hussie's made it pretty clear that Sollux and Aradia definitely have some unfinished business going on. Sollux is important to Aradia - she makes a point of talking to him, hugging him and saying goodbye before she blows up, getting out of her funk long enough to try and make things better for Sollux a little. We know they had some kind of quadrant thing going on before she died. If they thought of their relationship as being flushed, I don't think they do now because they've changed too much, or rather Aradia has. Aradia is in a constant state of evolution in Homestuck, and I think the person she is now is definitely not the person that Sollux knew at the beginning.
I do think that if it was a quadrant relationship, it would either be pale or ashen.
So, are you ever planning of turning Karkat into Pantskat The Sufferer for lulz?

Aradia's thoughts on Karkat? Especially now that he has mastered the almight shoosh.

Family is important to Elliot. Ever since he was a child he's been told that his family are the only people he can trust to not ... well ... stab him in the back. Sure they're kind of messed up and kind of violent and seriously who lets these people interact with each other ever, but they're his and he loves them to pieces. It's a very pure, transcendent love, and it's really one of his redeeming characteristics (...and also one of his greatest flaws but whatevs)
This brings me to Vincent. Elliot adored Vincent even before the whole Headhunter arc thing. Vincent is hard to know. He's hard to like sometimes, and sometimes he really pisses Elliot off. But underneath all of that is this sheer adoration that this is my older brother and I love him a lot. Sometimes he does dumb things or stupid things or just plain malicious things, but he's family and he has really admirable qualities as well. I mean, even when they're children, Elliot's view of Vincent is "someone to play with" rather than "someone to be afraid ( ... )

ELLIOT, WOULD YOU HAVE ACCEPTED YURA AS STEPDAD

No matter what had happened, Elliot would have had to learn to live with his guilt - I think it got translated as his sin - and that would not be a pleasant experience. As so much of Elliot's self-identification is tied up in being a good and noble person, the fact that his life killed two families - his own and Leo's - would have been a very hard burden to bear. He would have, because he's Elliot Nightray and dammit he shoulders his own burdens, but it would have been a very hard thing for him to.
He'd first have to reassess what it means to be Elliot Nightray; is he really the knight errant he paints himself in his subconscious representation of himself, or is he instead something far more sordid and broken? An Elliot that survived is an Elliot whose principles didn't kill him, so he would probably fall somewhere between those two poles, though I assume that it would be closer to the knight errant thing if only because it's Elliot ( ... )
